Farewell and happy retirement Gaylene
On 15 December we said farewell, and happy retirement, to Gaylene Cornelius who has been an integral part of our firm for more than 35 years.
Gaylene started with us in March 1986 and was the first Executive Assistant in Audit. She has played a huge role in the growth and diversification of what is now the Audit, Assurance and Advisory (AAA) division and made up of approximately 30 people, including 6 Partners.
Through her time with us Gaylene has seen incredible change. When she started her role included typing all the firm’s correspondence on a large typewriter, which was seen as innovative due to the ability to rub out a letter one at a time if a mistake was made!
Gaylene’s responsibilities evolved over her time with WLF and have included running the firm’s quality system, becoming a quality auditor, management of our Chartered Accountants program, looking after the administration for the entire AAA team, coordinating client seminars and holding down the role of Personal Assistant to a number of Partners. She has also been the unofficial font of knowledge for many young (and not-so-young) staff as they commenced and developed their career as an Auditor.
Gaylene has been a very loyal and well-respected member of our WLF family. We know she will embark on retirement with the same enthusiasm and energy that she has applied throughout her work with us, and we wish her many happy times ahead with her family, including her beautiful grandchildren.
Gaylene, to say thank you for your contribution doesn’t seem adequate. So on behalf of the Partners and all your colleagues, we simply want to wish you all the very best for your future and we sincerely hope you have as many happy memories of WLF as we have of you.
