Our inaugural WLF Spirit Award and a Hall of Fame

Posted on February 23rd, 2023 by Jo Bailey

Late 2022 saw the introduction of two significant new programs at WLF Accounting & Advisory, both of which recognise and celebrate the wonderful contribution made by our people.

Spirit of WLF Award

To be awarded annually, the Spirit of WLF Award is for a staff member of WLF who personifies the values, commitment, client service and team spirit of the firm.

Nominations are made for this award internally, and the criteria on which nominations are assessed includes:

  • Consistently demonstrating a commitment to quality and client service
  • Displaying our firm values in all that they do
  • Contributing to a positive workplace culture
  • Demonstrating outstanding attitude, integrity and professionalism

Any staff member of WLF can be nominated for this award, regardless of the length of their employment with us.

“The Spirit of WLF Award is a great way for our people to be able to recognise their colleagues, irrespective of their role within the firm” says Michael Gozzi, People and Culture Manager.

“The exceptional quality of our staff at WLF made it a difficult decision, but in the end the panel were unanimous in awarding the inaugural Spirit of WLF Award to Kayla Roberts.”

Kayla is a Corporate Support Officer and while this role means she is unknown to many of our clients, the services she delivers are integral in ensuring the firm operates smoothly and can continue to deliver the highest possible standard of support for our clients.

Kayla received her Spirit of WLF Award from Partner Alicia Leis at the firm Christmas dinner, in a restaurant full of congratulations and well wishes.  On behalf of the Partners and all your colleagues, we congratulate you again Kayla and thank you for your dedication and ongoing contribution.

WLF Hall of Fame

With more than 130 years of history and expertise, it’s no surprise that we have had some long-serving, loyal team members who have been with the firm for a very significant portion of their professional careers.

The introduction of the WLF Hall of Fame in late 2022 is a fitting way to acknowledge the contribution of these staff, both past and present.

“Staff who complete 30 years of service will be inducted into the WLF Hall of Fame” says Michael.

“They’ll receive a memorial gift recognising 30 years of service, and their name engraved onto a perpetual honour board.”

“In putting the Hall of Fame together, I was pleasantly surprised to find we already have 23 people, past and present staff, who have qualified for the honour. It’s also great to see that these Hall-of-Famers have been based in a range of roles right across the firm.”

WLF Partner Alicia Leis says the significance of recognising past employees in the Hall of Fame is important.

“As a business, WLF is committed to ongoing learning and evolving, in our range of services as well as our processes and systems.”

“I’m proud of the fact that we have such a strong focus on embracing technology and innovation, and always looking for opportunities for improvement. Alongside this, we are always cognisant of the foundations on which the firm has been built and the importance of the contribution from so many dedicated staff over the years” Alicia continues.

“Working in the professional services sector means that our people are our biggest asset, and the Hall of Fame gives us another way to recognise and celebrate this.”
