Nine new team members and significant anniversary celebrations

Posted on March 3rd, 2021 by WLF

February 2021 was a great month for our team at WLF, with new staff and some significant anniversaries to celebrate.

We were delighted to welcome nine new team members. Shantelle Brown, Sean Cruz and Jake Saunders commenced in the Audit, Assurance and Advisory division after recently graduating from the University of Tasmania. Our Business and Personal Advisory division has grown to include Troy Britton, Gordon Hamilton, Ellia Kelleher, Jacob Quinn, Benjamin Vaszocz and Navoda Ranaweera.

Gordon, Ellia and Jacob all joined our team through the Undergraduate Cadetship Accountant Program, from The Hutchins School, St Michaels Collegiate and Guilford Young College respectively.

“After the many challenges of 2020, all our Partners are so happy that we could continue our commitment to the Graduate and Undergraduate Programs” says Alicia Leis, HR Partner.

“Our graduate and undergraduates have the opportunity to work with a range of clients and draw on the knowledge of their colleagues. They’re exposed to complex accounting and auditing matters from the start, with full supervision and support of Managers and Partners. This is a great way to learn and build foundations for a strong professional career.”

“The relationships WLF has right around the state are always important, but last year this was even more evident. And I think these local connections will continue to be vital as we move forward, with so many businesses around Tasmania still adjusting to the changes caused by the pandemic.”

“For us to be able to continue to provide employment, and launch careers, is something we are very proud of. We also know that our clients value this local knowledge and commitment too.”

At the other end of the scale to our new starters, we also celebrated some  major milestones in February. Congratulations to Joanne Doyle who celebrated 35 years with the firm, Nick Carter who reached the 20-year milestone and Rebecca Walkley for her 15 years’ service.

“While it’s been a busy month,” Alicia says “it’s a tribute to everyone in our team that we can continue to celebrate these milestones and welcome new colleagues. The support of our staff and our valued clients is something we never take for granted.”
