Claire Thornett recognised for her expertise and contribution with the appointment to the position of Director

Posted on September 16th, 2021 by WLF

The Partners are very proud to announce the recent appointment of Claire Thornett to the position of Director, Specialist Tax Advisory.

Claire joined WLF in February 2014 through our Graduate Program after completing a Master of Professional Accounting at the University of Tasmania. She commenced in the Specialist Tax Advisory division (STA) and has continually built on her expertise, navigating the intricacies of tax legislation for her clients.

In 2018 Claire was recognised by The Taxation Institute of Australia as the Dux of the Chartered Tax Advisor course specialising in capital gains tax concessions for small business.

With a background of eight years in small business prior to graduation, Claire also has a strong understanding of the challenges faced by many SMEs.

Away from the office Claire enjoys spending time outside, whether it’s spent bushwalking, bike riding or just relaxing in the garden with her two miniature schnauzers and a good book. She has been a keen traveller in the past, and hope to be again, including a year spent working in China prior to her accounting career.

“On behalf of the WLF Partners I would like to sincerely congratulate Claire on her recent promotion,” says Marg Marshall, Partner STA and Business and Personal Advisory. “I have had the privilege of working with Claire since she started her accounting and advisory career. Specialising in tax legislation is quite a niche field, requiring a detailed understanding of legislation as well as ongoing professional development to ensure currency.”

“Claire has continued to build on her knowledge since she joined our firm and this promotion is a fitting recognition of her expertise and the value she brings to our clients and our firm.”
