Tassie Mums was the most recent, and very worthy, recipient of our Friday Fundraising program, and it was great to welcome Operations Manager Madeleine Glover and Committee member Nigel Clutterbuck to our office to chat about the wonderful work they do.

Tassie Mums is a volunteer based not-for-profit organisation with a commitment to provide Tasmanian babies and children with everyday essentials for a happy and healthy life. Working with more than 60 community and social service organisations right around Tasmania, the team at Tassie Mums supply every-day essentials for babies and children ranging from premature birth up to 12 years of age.

The Tassie Mums boxes are beautifully presented, with a variety of clothing, as well as at least two age-appropriate books and a soft toy for comfort. Madeleine says a clothing bundle for a newborn baby contains on average 100 items.

“We are very proud to be helping children and families all around Tasmania” says Madeleine.

“The reasons for the need varies greatly – it may be due to financial disadvantage, health reasons, or a disaster such as a house fire or flood. What’s important to us is that children are receiving good quality, hygienic and comfortable clothing, along with a few nice gifts.”  A Tassie Mums bundle

“Some of the clothing is newly purchased and donated, while other items are pre-loved. Our team ensures that everything is clean and well presented for recipients.”

“We also rehome nappies, play mats, bassinets, cot linen and toiletry items around the state. And we are guided by the welfare organisations on what the recipient/s need.”

WLF Partner Douglas Thomson says he was delighted to hand over the big $1000 cheque to Madeleine and Nigel on behalf the staff at WLF.

“Our Friday Fundraising program is something that is wholly run by our staff. The team have a focus on supporting local organisations who are doing great work” says Douglas.

“Often the organisations are working at a grass roots level.”

Our Friday Fundraising for Tassie Mums“I feel really proud knowing that we have so many staff contributing each week, and choosing to donate their own money to organisations that are making a real and very important difference to our community.”

Anyone wishing to support Tassie Mums or find out more about them can contact Madeleine or one of the team via their website.
