Farewell and thank you Denise – enjoy the next chapter
While most of our team members were working from home, we said a fond farewell and good luck to Denise Scott, who retired on 14 April after 31 years with WLF Accounting & Advisory.
The celebratory send offs had to wait a while due to the COVID-19 restrictions, but happily we were able to congratulate Denise at our end of year presentations in July. Partner Stuart Clutterbuck shared some fond memories, which also highlighted the many changes Denise has been a part of in her time with the firm.
On 3 July 1989 when Denise walked into the firm for her first day of work, everything was in paper format. Firm and client information was stored in four draw filing cabinets, and the office walls were lined with over 40 of them – a daunting sight for our new filing clerk.
There were no computers on desks. But always a progressive firm, we were proudly using the latest in technology, which at the time was the fax machine!
Over Denise’s 31-year career with WLF, she has been an integral part of so many changes that have helped the firm to grow, including the introduction of email, internet, software management systems, video conferencing, electronic invoicing and payment and more. Today there is barely a filing cabinet in sight with most of our data stored electronically, and many of our clients utilising cloud accounting.
Denise has been the gate keeper of the electronic lodgement process for all our documents with the ATO for many years, in addition to playing a key role within the Corporate Support Services team.
Perhaps most importantly, Denise has played a key role in assisting us deliver the best solutions and service for our clients. And while our clients may not have seen her in the meetings, they can be assured Denise was working to ensure everything ran smoothly for them.
On behalf of the Partnership and all the WLF team we extend a big thank you to Denise for her many years of service, support and collegiality, and we wish her a happy and fulfilling retirement.
